Meet Anthony Johnson

Candidate for Shreveport City Marshal

Anthony Johnson is a native of Shreveport, Louisiana and grew up in Cedar Grove.  He attended 81st Street Elementary School, Eden Garden Jr. High and is a graduate of Captain Shreve High School.  Anthony is the proud father and grandfather of six daughters, one son and four grandchildren.

Anthony entered law enforcement in 1988 where he served as a Caddo Deputy Sheriff.  In 1994, he moved to Dallas, Texas.  He pursued and obtained his Texas peace officer certification.

During his stay in Dallas, Texas, Anthony also pursued his interest in cooking, since the age of 18.  He attended culinary school, worked as a Chef and eventually started his own catering business in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area.

Anthony moved back to Shreveport, Louisiana in 2008.  He re-entered into Louisiana law enforcement as a deputy marshal for the Shreveport City Marshal’s Office.  He currently holds a Peace Officer Standards and Training Certification through the State of Louisiana.

“My career as a law enforcement officer has allowed me a clear view of the issues and disconnect that is present between people of color and law enforcement.  Systematic changes are critical and necessary to see positive changes in those communities.  We will keep our mind open to new ideas, join forces with resources with every part of our community to strengthen the resolve, appearance and productivity of the Marshal's Office.”

Anthony has over 25 years of law enforcement experience.  He has a strong desire to commit to serving the community through law enforcement with a solution-oriented approach to the problems that arise and confront our communities.

If elected, Johnson plans to use the Marshal's Office in a proactive way in aiding Shreveport Police Dept and Sheriff's Dept in the prevention of crime.

Johnson also plans to launch a Law Enforcement Explorers program that will help to develop an interest in the field of law enforcement for students in high school in an attempt to help them understand the important role law enforcement has in the community.
